Guest guest
By saying " state funded " , I'm assuming that you mean fully funded, state regulated. The law requires that in order to be reimbursed, that the practitioner have a license that is recognized (like a psychologist, speech pathologist etc.) or have a certification that is recognized by Tricare. BCBAs and BCABAs are recognized by Tricare, so they would work. You may want to ask the two teachers what certifications they have. It's really in people's best interest to find someone with a BCBA these days, but experience does count for a lot. If the teachers are good, and they like working in the field, then they should consider working toward their certification. UNT offers an on-line course, and there are plenty of folks now in Texas to mentor. I think it can be done. S. My son is getting training in one ABA program and he has made good improvement. The two teachers have many years of ABA training experience. However, they are not BCBA or BCABA. My insurance is state funded Atena HMO. My questions is, to get the coverage, do the ABA providers have to be either BCABA or BCBA? If not, what other qualifications are required to get the insurance coverage?
