The attempts at humor in the naming of their workshops is very telling.... (and quite disgusting!) Parents are urged to attend, and if they do, to be sure they do not let on that they are parents - especially a parent of a student with autism as they very well may escort you out the door... http://www.nelilaw.net/workshops_description.php?id=21 Course sample: 9:00 – 9:45 " Super Kids " : Evaluating for Autism Under IDEA " The number of students diagnosed as autistic has exploded and the impact on schools has been dramatic. This session will discuss how to deal with outside evaluations and how a district should conduct its own evaluation that can be defended in court. " 10:00 – 10:45 " Kryptonite - ABA and TEACCH and PECS, Oh My! " : Autism Methodology Cases and What Can be Learned From Them One of the biggest battlegrounds in autism cases is the area of methodology. An experienced school law attorney will provide an insightful analysis of cases where districts have won or lost in litigation involving methodology. " ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Please forward to all interested parties...and wouldn't you like to know if your school district folks are going to spend your tax dollars on this teacher training...vs sending your teach to a workshop on HOW to teach. M. Guppy Don't tell God how big your storm is - tell the storm how big your God is! Texas Autism Advocacy: www.TexasAutismAdvocacy.org " There are some aspects of a person's life that we have no right to compromise. We cannot negotiate the size of an institution. No one should live in one. We cannot debate who should get an inclusive education. Everyone should. We cannot determine who does and who does not get the right to make their own choices and forge their own futures. All must. "
