I have seen 100% pure refined beeswax but it is not " listed " as cosmetic grade.

Does anyone know what I should look for in Beeswax for use in cosmetics, i.e.,

lip balms?

for the chemistry difference between the two....

Regular sunflower oil is ~70% linoleics, 16% oleics (+ 1%

linolenic, 7% palmitic, 4%

stearic IV 132)

HO sunflower is ~ 83% oleics, 4% linoleics, (+0.2%

linolenic, 3.4% palmitic, 4.3%

stearic IV 90)

oleics are monounsaturated, linoleics have 2 unsaturated

bonds, so are more prone to

oxidation then oleics ... the HO sunflower oil will have a

longer shelf life then the regular

sunflower if no antioxidants were added to either.

I don't do lotions very often, so can't really comment on

the differences in feel,... based

on profiles, HO is most similar to olive oil, while regular

sunflower is more like average

values for grapeseed. The linoleic oils seem to absorb more

quickly on my skin, but that

probably varies with skin types.

From a product consistancy issue and a potential regulatory issue, I

would use refined Beeswax.

AFAIK, there is no official " cosmetic grade " Beeswax.
