Not at all. I've used Emulsifying Wax NF as a secondary emulsifier in

the past and may use it again in the future. But I usual use raw

materials that are more easilly sourced. Specifically I like to use

things like Promulgen D, Cosmowax J, Macol 124, Lipowax D, Emulgade

1000 NI, Hetoxol D and Murncol 124D which have all share the same INCI

name Cetearyl Alcohol (and) Ceteareth-20.

As far as I can tell, the emulsifying wax that is sold on the

web is merely a waxy substance that emulsifies water and oil.

I'm firmly convinced that all the emulsifying waxes that are

sold on the web are not the same and therefore should not be

called Emulsifying Wax on your Ingredient Declaration.

Technically, " Emulsifying Wax " is not even an INCI name.

Croda makes a raw material called Polawax, which is Emulsifying

Wax NF. If you are using Polawax in your formulas, you can use

Emulsifying Wax NF on your Ingredient Declaration.

The e-wax that many of you are using in your formulas could be

anything. Most likely they're blends of a fatty alcohol(s) and

some ethoxylated fatty alcohol. Sometimes these materials could

be blended with other emulsifiers.

Some common waxy substances that are used to emulsify water and

oils include:

Cetyl Alcohol (and) Stearyl Alcohol (and) Ceteareth-20

Cetearyl Alcohol (and) Ceteareth-20

Stearyl Alcohol (and) Ceteareth-20

Cetearyl Alcohol (and) Polysorbate 60

Cetearyl Alcohol (and) Steareth-30 (and) Ceteth-20
