Angerwas my excuse to react negativelywithout thinking. I let anger cause meto judge others, say or do hurtfulthings, turn away from my Higher Power,and to overeat.I came to realize that I felt angry evenwhen there were other emotions brewingon a deeper level. I felt angry when Iwas actually feeling afraid,embarrassed, hurt, tired, forgetful, orstressed out. As I work the TwelveSteps, I welcome my Higher Power'sguidance in feeling my true feelings; inaccepting myself and the situations inmy life; in acting on life -- ratherthan reacting; and in having thecompassion to understand myself andothers. By doing this I no longer fearanger and I no longer find it a dangerin my life.Turning to my Higher Power, I use theSerenity Prayer and the Twelve Steps toprocess anger in healthy ways. When Ifeel angry at myself, I give myself abreak!
