Guest guest
I am getting ready to see yet a new doctor and was looking at all my labs over the years. I have noticed that despite my armour increases my free t's have not changed much. Here are the labs....what does this mean? 2004 when first on synthroid Tsh 2.56 free T4 0.9 (range 0.75 - 1.54) march 2005 i think still on synthroid TSH 2.305 FreeT4 1.09 (range 0.61 - 1.76) feb. 2006 on armour I think I s tarted in June or so of 05 by this time I was on 2.25 gr of armour TSH -0.09 Free T4 1.1 (range 0.8-1.8) Free T3 333 (range 230-420) August 2006 on 2.25 armour TSH - 0.03 Free T4 1.0 (range 0.8-1.8) Free T3 395 (range 230-420) April 2007 on 2.25 armour and 30mcg t4 TSH 0.08 Free T4 1.0 (range 0.8-1.8) Free T3 351 (ran ge 230-420 April 2008 on 2.5 gr armour 60 mncg T4 TSH 0.02 I think I was hyper at this point due to thyroiditis Free T4 1.1 (range 0.8-1.8) Free T3 338 (range 230-420) I notice that the last three draws shows my T3 going down instead of up...these were all taken in the am before meds.... I do not have any hyper symptoms now..I am taking 2.5 gr armour and 20mcg of T4 daily...in fact I have been feeling very hypo...My doctor was concerned because my resting heart rate was 100 (in April 2008) I don't want to have a heart attack, but at the same time I do want to be properly medicated. I want to be well-armed with info before I see the new doc. what does it mean? feedback is appreciated. stephThe Famous, the Infamous, the Lame - in your browser. Get the TMZ Toolbar Now! Guest guest
Just a note on the hyper issue related to heart issues. Unless you really had hyper symptoms then you really weren't hyper - TSH will naturally move toward suppression when you add thyroid hormone. If you are worried (and something my doc did before allowing me to take the high levels of T3 - she even Rxed a beta block just in case), then ask your PCP to do an echocardiogram and cardio stress test. I passed both of those with flying colors and my heart is doing fantastic since I am able to exercise (without post-exertional fatigue) on the higher levels of thyroid. Per one of my other notes, you are really on the lower end of the range in terms of amount of Armour for symptom resolution. Although, it is a very individual thing.
