The " drying " effect of coconut oil soap seems to be a result of it's

superior cleaning ability -- i.e., it's very good at removing oil and dirt

from your skin, but sometimes it means removing more oils than people may

want -- which, I gather, is a function of the length of the fatty acid

chains. That may be related to SAP value, but it's not *caused* by the

SAP value; once the oil is saponified, and all of the lye is converted into

soap, that shouldn't have anything to do with it.

What percentage of coconut oil are you using in your soap? I make a 100%

coconut oil soap for sailors, because it will suds in saltwater, but most

of my soaps are about 30% coconut.
