Upcoming ESC regions Stakeholder's input meetings

I just received an invitation for the upcoming ESC stakeholder's meeting for

Region 10 on February 21 in Dallas. While it states that this is a personal

invitation, it also states this is a public input meeting. I attended one

last year and from what I gathered it was " invitation only " . I would

suggest that everyone contact their ESC for their area and see if they can

be invited or if anyone can attend. Also, you should find out what the

specific areas to be addressed are. Each ESC only discusses a few topics

and all the ESC's then combine that information and submit it to the TEA.

For Region 10 the 3 topics (4 indicators) are:

Indicator 5: Educational Environment, Aged 6-21 - What needs to be included

in an ARD committee's discussion regarding instructional placement choices

for a student with disabilities?

Indicator 4: Rates of Suspension and Expulsion - How can LEAs increase the

use of early, positive academic and behavioral interventions?

Indicator 9 - 10: Disproportionality - What practices are in place to ensure

that struggling students (non-special education) are receiving appropriate

intervention strategies?

If everyone finds out what their ESC will be addressing, then everyone can

share their views/ideas for each indicator for those that are going to be

attending to bring to the discussion.
