Guest guest
I don't usually send links to articles, but when I got the most recent issue of WIRED magazine 16.03 (March 2008 issue) in the mail today I had to share. It has a great(I think) article about autism. The headline on the cover reads " The Truth About Autism: Everything You Know Is Wrong " . The article was written by Wolman, and it focuses on people living with autism (such as Baggs -creator of the YouTube video " In My Language " ) and researchers who are stepping away from the " disease model " and tweaking their studies to understand the some of the previously unacknowledged abilities and strengths of people with a spectrum dx. Even if you aren't a fan of " neurodiversity " it's nice to read an article that reminds us that every one of our kids has potential and abilities even if they aren't being recognized or acknowledged by traditional measures. You can download it and read it for free on their website http://www.wired.com/services/press/2008/march or pick up the March 2008 issue.
