Guest guest
Hello, All It's been ages since I've posted. I read a lot, but lurk mostly. My Ian Jack is 8 years old now. I am amazed that he just turned 8. He is a delight. He just received another re-evaluation a couple of days ago from his OT. Basically it said he was about 4yrs and 2months. I hate getting these things. Even DH said something about the difference between his chronological and developmental ages getting wider and wider. Ian is so smart, just immature. It gets us down. We worry about the future, as Ian has no sibs or cousins or relatives really. What's going to happen when we're gone? Is he going to be far enough along to take care of himself? He's doing so good. He's doing great in math, reading, and improving in writing. He's in mainstream first grade with accomidations and adjustments to curriculum, and resource classes. He has sensory issues. We have him in OT, PT, ST. We are having a low period, I guess. He's a wonderful child. Great sense of humor, but very hard headed. He comes by that honestly. Sometimes it's impossible to get him to attend and do his homework. He still will run away. We can't let him out of our sight for a second. Sigh, I guess we need some encouragement that he will mature some more. He won't always be 4 yrs old developmentally. He's so smart... I don't understand why he doesn't mature more. Any thoughts are appreciated. Donna K.
