Guest guest
Today's thought from Hazelden is:THOUGHT FOR THE DAYAt times when I am concerned about whether or not I can continue to live the Steps of this program, I think about past events. Most often I very quickly recall an event that still sends chills through me, and I wonder how it is that I'm able to sit here now. I might have been a hair away from total disaster, but somehow I got by. It wasn't skill or expertise or anything I did right. It was pure, stupid luck. I ask myself whether it is worth ever going back to that irrationality, and the answer is emphatically No. So I reread those Steps and thank my Higher Power that I am alive to work them. Do I remember my worst moments, to remind me how well off I am today?MEDITATION FOR THE DAYAs we wait for news of events that seem crucial to our lives, we sometimes reflect on what we might have done differently were it all to be relived. This won't change the news we await, nor will it do much for history; but sometimes a little hindsight can be fruitful. The past tragic moments we've all shared were invariably devoid of a sense of the presence of a Higher Power. Had we that force at our side, things might have been different. While the past is now gone, the present can be filled with this new awareness, if we so wish. My Higher Power is big enough for everyone and needs only to be sought.PRAYER FOR THE DAYI pray that my pitiful failings are now no more than a memory. I pray that God will continue to bless me with inspiration, to show me what I might yet become. You are reading from the book: Look to this Day by Alan L. Roeck Look to this Day by Alan L. Roeck.
