Guest guest
Yes, this thyroid patient later said that she doesn't know why she said Solu-Cortef, that it was actually Cortef pills she got. No, I'm not joining the Louisiana site. Just wanted to let some Tx residents know about this doctor, that's all. Re: Another Doctor for Adrenal Fatigue, Armour, and Compounded "Stuff" Solu-Cortef is hydrocortisone given by injection. Is she injecting herself daily with this? I can post the info on the Louisiana site, too. Or you can join and I will make a you a moderator and you can do it yourself. . . . http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Louisiana_Thyroid_Groups/ >> For what it's worth ladies and gentlemen, another doctor was just posted on another group, who is closer to us than two states away. This one is in Louisiana, Shreveport to be exact. For anyone who is willing to leave the state of Tx for their thyroid care, here's the info. What's written in stone is the fact that she treats by symptoms more than labs.> > Dr. Deborah Adcock> Shreveport, Louisiana
Guest guest
I will note that there's also a really, really good Lyme doctor in the Shreveport area - there is a group of folks from North Texas (and I imagine Houston as well) that travel there for treatment. This doctor will run all the hormonal labs, as well. I will post his name if folks are interested. Lyme can be a hidden infection in many, many people. Many, many people have it in their blood, but it doesn't cause any problems. However, for folks like us with thyroid problems and poor functioning immune systems, it can wreak havoc on every system in our bodies. As an aside, there is a fantastic film on Lyme disease produced by a non-profit film company in CA. I was interviewed for this at one of my Lyme disease conferences. There is a FREE showing of this film in Arlington this coming Saturday (look for Arlington): http://www.openeyepictures.com/underourskin/uos_screenings.html The details are: Date: Saturday, Aug 23, 2008 Time: 1:00 pm Place: The Vine Fellowship 5229 Elliott Rd Arlington, TX Note: there is no religion involved, this is done as a public service for the community. Nor, do you have to belong to any Lyme support group. I am inviting many of the medical professionals in our area that I know, as I think it is so very important for them to hear this story and to consider the potential for LD in their patients (especially those that are originally from the East Coast or the Northwest). There is a trailer available on that website and you find the tails of dealing with the medical system -eerily familiar (i.e., " there's nothing wrong with you " , " You're just looking for attention " , " You just need some anti-depressants). I will note that I was interviewed for the film, but I have high confidence I ended up on the cutting room floor, because my story was so like everyone else's and they likely didn't like my " Lyme " green shirt - too upsetting for many people ;( I believe this film will change people's views of chronic Lyme - and hopefully FM/CFS since that is the more medically acceptable diagnosis that gets the medical bills paid for many of us. And, you may ask, what does this have to do with thyroid? Well, many doctors find that Lyme patients have big thyroid problems just like many of us. They also find that in patients with perfect looking labs, that some Armour can really help. This is likely due to Lyme triggering autoimmune reactions - Lyme can mimic the " key " that unlocks this progression of immune reactions that causes your body to destroy itself (the genes for these reactions are on Chromosome 6). On the top of the list is RA - which has been known to be one of the very common autoimmune impact of Lyme (even by the most conventional doctors - this was the key to the discovery of Lyme disease in Lyme, Connecticut about 30 years ago). The next one that few of the doctors are aware of is celiac/gluten intolerance. However, almost all of the alternative docs (and a handful of educated Lyme literate docs) will test or flat out recommend the GF diet for all their patients. And, I will note that for those of us that have ever lived or vacationed on the East Coast (the risk gets higher as you move up the coast from GA to the Northeast), the potential for getting Lyme is EXTREMELY high. It is now clear that I got it as a child living in Newport News, Va. and then again 5 years ago while visiting my brother on the Chesapeake bay and then this past June when hiking the Appalachain trail in Va. Be well, B. > > > > For what it's worth ladies and gentlemen, another doctor was just posted on another group, who is closer to us than two states away.
