This is a very mild blend. Well, Maurice, I can see you don't spend much time in the dollar stores Some of the cheap bubble bath in the really big containers will have sodium lauryl sulfate. I have been thinking about sodium lauroyl sarcosinate actually. Do you use the powder or the liquid? Do you use Croda's? I have thought about using the powder in my NatraBath, with some other stuff to make a bubble bath powder. > > > >I was playing around with the C > >12-15 alkyl benzoate to make a sprayable lotion milk the other day (with > some > >good results)......well, the day was busy and long....and I got tired and > >decided to take a nice relaxing bath.ÿ So, I took my small batch of > " milk " , > >mixed in a little NatraBath with eo and poured it into the bath.....very > >nice!ÿ > > You've got a dispersable bath oil. I was so impressed with how " soft and emollient " the bath water felt. I am a little afraid of using milk solids in water because of the buggies, but perhaps the NatraBath, milk solids, eo/fo, C12-15 alkyl benzoate in a DRY powdery mix! Then use the NatraBath, eo/fo, C12-15 alkyl benzoate and maybe UltraMaize in a liquid milk bath??? I will have to try it out. > > >Now, I am wondering if the C 12-15 alkyl benzoate is recommended for > >use in a bath--Maurice?ÿ If so, I may " officially " experiment with it this > >way ÿ I am also thinking surfactants could be added to make it more > foamy, > >but still conditioning.ÿ Lots of ideas, so little time > > If you use too much " surfactant " you may not get the emollient effect. > Using Cocamidopropyl Betaine should give you a nice feel. > Good point. Actually, I have no desire myself for bubbles or surfactants (at a % high enough to create bubbles) in a bath....but for some reason folks seem to associate bubbles with luxury/relaxation. Even though some of my retail customers have asked me to make a bubble bath, I don't. I just don't think it is necessary or a good thing. I much prefer bath salts or some emollients in a bath...but that's just my opinion. This bath milk has potential though.....!! Guest guest
>maybe surfactants and carboners don't like each other? As a general rule, Carbomers don't like salts like Na+, Ca++, Al++. Surfactants can contain salts and sometimes, behave as salts. Guest guest
My children have been bugging me to make them a bubble bath. Since all but one are girls I've been leery of making them. But, I think as long as they don't sit for hours in the bath they'll be ok. So, when making one, do I make it as more of a concentrate (with little water)? Thinking about it I would say yes since they're not using it directly on their skin, but diluted in the water, but since I'm not a chemist (nor do I play one on television), I want to be sure before I start playing with it. I have loads of different surfactants (various Amisoft ones in addition to the basics like sodium laureth sulfates, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, decyl glucoside, etc). So which would be the best? I should but I don't. The only time I buy personal care products are when I have to duplcate a specific formula. I usually don't have to dupe cheap products. >I have been thinking about sodium lauroyl sarcosinate >actually.ÿ Do you use the powder or the liquid?ÿ Do you use Croda's? I use Hamposyl L-30 or Crodasinic LS-30. I know Angie is aware of this information, but if list members are interested in Crodasinic LS-30 (Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate), there are three good papers from Croda in our fil area: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Cosmeticinfo/files/Ingredients/CrodasinicL S30_Foaming.pdf http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Cosmeticinfo/files/Ingredients/CrodasinicL S30_Mildness.pdf http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Cosmeticinfo/files/Ingredients/CrodasinicL S30_pH & Foaming.pdf Maurice -------------------------------------------------------- Maurice O. Guest guest
Thank you Maurice! As luck would have it I have all the ingredients. I'm off to play with it and hopefully I'll have something great for the kids this weekend.
