Guest guest
Even organic apples can be sprayed with the waxy preservative coating - gets me every time when I eat the peel. Whole Food says the organic refers to the growth process, not about anything after harvest. They were most unsympathetic and unhelpful about even trying to determine if various types or shipments of the apples they carry are sprayed post harvest or not. Does your daughter have the same outcome after drinking apple juice? Are ther some candies she can eat without symptoms? Is it one apple or one piece of candy or several apples or several candies consecutively? Most candies are usually highly colored (artificially) unless organic at health food store. The colorings as well as preservatives can trigger symptoms for me as you describe in your daughter, as well as a several day lingering flu-like sensation. Re TMJ troubles - My chiro has me poke around on my jaw under my ear and downward along my jaw edge until I find the really tender spot - both sides at same time. Then poke a finger on the "hot spot" and hold firmly seven seconds (ie ""one one thousand, two one thousand", etc). Do this three times consecutivel with a few seconds pause between.... to partially deprive the muscle of oxygen and cause it to relax, thus taking pressure off the TM joint on the tighter side and allowing the muscle on the weaker side to "catch up". One side "Pulls" more than the other. This muscle relaxation can help the body be able to even up the bite on it's own. I grind my teeth less since doing a thorough parasite cleanse (all herbal - at health food store). Apparently my "problem" is not so much tooth alignment as adaptive habit/result of parasites/stress. Everyone is different. I tend to like to try the simple before going on to the complex approach. I'm 60 and never had braces but noticed my front teeth moving inward toward my tongue, causing my bite to become difficult in the front. The dentist ordered Red, White and Blue "trays" (I understand it is like Invisiline but more economical). I wore them with dramatic results over several months and (now the point of the story) continue wearing the last trays (upper and lower) as retainers at night. No more morning headaches as the trays have some give. So when I do grind through a stressful dream state the trays absorb some of the pressure. I even pop them in when I'm under a lot of daytime stress as I can chomp down and relieve some of the physical part of the stress. Hope you find relief for your daughter. a
Guest guest
Hi a, thanks for responding. My daughter doesn't drink apple juice, she doestn't like it. She says sweet tarts and chocolate don't bother her. That is all she mentioned, I'm sure there is more. It is possible but I don't think tmj is an issue for her. She says she has no jaw pain or discomfort. I like doing the simple approach first also. So at this point she is avoiding apples and candy which she did on her own and she is only 10. She did say she can't live without chocolate. If she develops more symptoms our next step will have to be the doctor.
