Guest guest
This is a response to B and her giving Emer-gen-C to her boys. Have you researched EVERY ingredient on that package? I did and was blown away to discover that the aspartate is the next metabolite of aspartame, only much more neurotoxic. It is a potent excitotoxin, creating a sweet taste much as MSG (monosodium glutamate) creates a more intense taste sensation by overexciting your taste buds. It may taste really good, but you are sacrificing nerve cells (or more for those of us with autoimmune) with every ingestion of either substance as well as causing nervous system stimulation. These are not direct quotes, but some of what I remember from the book Excitotoxins, The Taste that Kills, by L. Blaylock (Amazon <$13 in paperback). I just went web hopping and found a really good overview at http://www.jpands.org/hacienda/escito/html A friend found this book at a thrift shop and gave it to me. We have both become MUCH more aware of "ingredients". Oh, I called the 1-800 number at the Emer-gen-C and left a message at customer service several times with a question about the aspartate in their product. Do you think I ever got a call back? NOT The health food store has a similar product made by KAL that has no aspartate. The FDA knows what MGG and the other excitotoxins do and still allow the megabucks food industry to poision us for taste. The term "natural flavorings" can legally contain up to 10% MSG without telling you that a product contains ANY MSG. "Hydrolysed vegetable protein" always contains MSG because MSG is produced during the acid bath/alkaline bath process used to extract the protein from rotten vegetables that are not fit for any other use, including being fed to animals. Just read the book for more info than you really wanted AND another step forward and upward toward improved health. a in Palacios
