I have had contact with the group in London, Ontario undertaking a letter

writing campaign to Premier McGuinty as mentioned in todays Family Net article.

Here is an excerpt from an e-mail from , please support their campaign by

mailing letters to them to add to their mounting pile. This is a chance for us

to express our issues in large numbers.

----------------------------------

........We have over 4000 letters collected and we are receiving more daily. Our

standard letter is attached for your information. There are numerous versions of

the letter with many parents personalizing their letters to the Premier. We

have had drop boxes in all 10 London Burger King Restaurants, a Party store,

autoparts store, General Dynamics and General Motors Diesel. A national

organization will meet in April to consider supporting our campaign. Among the

letters signed, are letters from parents, grandparents, families, Knights of

Columbus, CWL, general public, doctors, business people and Munsch!

We will also be featured in a news production on the New PL in April. Parents

here have done interviews on radio and have letters printed in newspapers. We

are trying to really spread the word in every way possible because as you know,

many people are not even aware that children are being denied services.

Initially, we set a deadline of mid March with the hopes of delivering these

letters to the Premier at the end of March. We do not have a date yet from our

MPP to present these letters to the Premier. However, Mr. Khalil Ramal, our MPP

has agreed to assist us with this. Even if we do not have 10,000 letters to

present to the Premier, we will give him what we have and continue to collect

letters for an additional presentation when we have reached our goal (or changes

are made). If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Attention Premier Dalton McGuinty

I support the resolution to ensure all people with Autism receive appropriate

services for their disability through the health care system.

Autism is a medical condition and as such, these citizens of Ontario should not

be deprived of medically necessary treatment based on their age or the severity

of their Autism. Waiting lists for Intensive Behavioral Intervention, providing

less than the optimum number of hours of treatment, penalizing families for

advocating and discharging children because they turn six, are human rights

violations and quite frankly, just morally wrong!

Funding Autism treatment through the health care system would ensure that

service providers follow clearly established medical ethics and regulations.

Discharges from the Intensive Behavioral Program are occurring daily as children

turn six years old. These children may regress and then the money invested in

their therapy programs will have been wasted. Act now, because this is an

emergency for these families and their children. Premier McGuinty, please take

immediate action to ensure not one more child/adult with Autism is deprived of a

medically necessary treatment, which will enable them to reach their full

potential. As a citizen of Ontario, I will not allow this injustice to continue.
