Guest guest
Hello everyone, I have recently moved from Dallas to Austin. In Dallas I was seeing Dr. DeVries. I was diagnosed as being hypo after the birth of my daughter. He recommended getting reevaluated a few months later to see if the condition was pregnancy related and eventually resolved itself or if I would need to remain on medication. I was very happy with him and the time he took to answer questions. But ... now I am in a new city and looking for recommendations. Has anyone seen Dr. Espinosa? I've heard good things about Ron Manzanero but I'd like to try to find a doctor who accepts insurance, if possible. Thanks for your help. Want to do more with Windows Live? Guest guest
You do not necessarily need a specialist for thyroid. If you are already on a stable dose, you may be able to get your primary care doc to continue that protocol for you. If you are not yet on your optimal dose, then you may wish to continue to see Dr. DeVries for awhile. >> Hello everyone,> > I have recently moved from Dallas to Austin. Guest guest
What treatment are you receiving? If you are currently hypo, post RAI or thyroidectomy, we may be able to help you find a doc. For treatment of the hyperthyroidism, we have not found anyone we can recommend. >> Hello,> > I'm new to the group, but have been up and down with Graves' Disease > for the last two years.> > I've struggled to find a doctor (endocrinologist or otherwise) that > I've felt really comfortable with and was wondering if anyone in the > group has a recommendation to share. Guest guest
That's so depressing (I'm hyperthyroid)! So I guess I'm not the only one who has had a hard time finding anyone good. Sigh. Guest guest
He's also on Dr. Sear's list as a doctor that is open minded about vaccination schedules, which might be appealing to all the moms in the group. So, he really does seem to be focused on wellness rather than peddling pharmaceutical goods. I do think it's really important for those of us that choose to opt out of the vaccinations for our kids to make sure that we do have a family doctor for them - some states have had witch hunts on families that choose not to vaccinate and having an MD that supports your position (for medical reasons in my case since there is research showing that for the genes my kids have that the vaccinations often don't work or actually do harm - e.g., Hepatitis B and DR4). It looks like he does not take insurance and won't work for folks that don't have out of network benefits, which they do seem to file on your behalf, which is nice. , please do provide a report on how this guy works out. He might be a good backup for me for my sons. Also, I wonder if he does BHRT? Be well, B. > > > > > > > > > > That's so depressing (I'm hyperthyroid)! Guest guest
A good friend of mine takes her kids to him and loves him... and she has opted out of vaccinations. I always wanted to opt out but didn't really feel like I had enough information to be able to stand up for it with a pediatrician. How did you find out your kids had the genes that don't work with the vaccinations? (sorry, off topic!) I will definitely report back after I see him. I haven't made an appointment yet, but will probably do so within the next week or so. I'll also do my best to remember to ask him about BHRT (brain's not too clear these days, I'm sure you all understand!). Guest guest
I've been seeing Dr. Chartrand for almost a year after I fired my endo who took me off Armour and I gained 13 pounds in 5 months. Dr. Chartrand prescribes Armour. His lab didn't do the free T3 test and he told me he wouldn't really go by that anyway - he uses TSH & Free T4, but he sent me a note a few months ago saying the lab now does Free T3. I'm seeing him tomorrow morning actually, so we'll see now how much attention he pays to the FT3. His office visit fee isn't extremely high and neither is the labwork(from memory, I think it was $60 for visit and $24 for TSH & FT4). I was unemployed last summer and he was very flexible about payment with me. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > That's so depressing (I'm hyperthyroid)!
