Guest guest
Hi all, I too am interested in any recommendations for any doctors/midwives that offer pre-natal care. We're in the south metro area. My daughter has recently found out she is pregnant (our first grand child!) and is looking for a different doctor. The OB/GYN she was sent to at the Park Nicollet clinic did not impress her at all. I've been slowly introducing her to this type of lifestyle and a good doctor or midwife will help a lot. Please include me in any private message referrals. Pediatric referrals would be appreciated as well. If anyone has any good websites or groups that would help in these areas please share these as well. This is a great opportunity to steer her in the right direction! Hi guys- I have discovered that I am pregnant for the first time in my life and I am close to forty years old! I glanced over the dr. list and not that I won't travel to see someone but I live near the Elk River area and was kind of looking for a place a little closer....I am leaning towards no vaccinations/homebirth but am relatively new to all this having been a tomboy most of my life. Any advice from the pros out there? Anything is much appreciated, I am concerned about being older and having a baby as I have read a lot info of higher risks.....and I am usually such a minimalist in life...I am taking supplements currently...and eat relatively well....those would be my high maintenance areas<G>,plus I am sensitive to dairy, soy, and wheat.... Anyone can email me privately if they wish... Thanks everyone! I kind of am looking for sponsors....I know this isn't a 12 step program<G>...but harder when you want to follow a non- traditional road:) and when all your friends do the regular dr. thing, they think you are kind of crazy:) Thanks for letting me ramble...I love this group... Guest guest
> I have discovered that I am pregnant for the first time in my life > and I am close to forty years old! Wow, congrats! I know that I am not answering your specific question, but... Here is a group made up of moms (parents) who want to raise their children with traditional foods, and I truly feel that having a support group can help! http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/newwaphb/ The WAPHB stands for Weston A Price Healthy Babies, and the moms on the group use WAP's studies as a BASIS to their lifestyle, but not as the answer to everything. I say this because the group is a fabulous resource even if you are not a believer of WAP. Anyway, good luck with your pregnancy, and I know there is at least one lady on the NEWWAPHB group that was in the same situation as you about 2 years ago, and now she has an adorable little girl. Have a happy day, Roxanne
Guest guest
Congratulations on your pregnancy! I would highly recommend taking Bradley classes (bradleybirth.com), as the classes teach everything from staying low risk to writing a birth plan, newborn care procedures to breastfeeding benefits and help, etc. They are very comprehensive and super helpful. Most teachers are well-connected in the local community and can recommend homebirth midwives and other resources. We are fortunate here in the Twin Cities because we have one of the best birthing communities in the country (second only to Seattle, last I heard.) I also recommend checking out childbirthcollective.org which is a great local organization with regular meetings focusing on different topics - check out the link for parent topic nights. These meetings are a great way to meet midwives and doulas in person, in addition to learning more about pregnancy and birth in general. A friend of mine, who I met in my Bradley class, had her first baby just 2 months before turning 40 a little over a year ago. She had a fabulous homebirth. This is going to get really long, so I think I'll email you the rest. Feel free to shoot me an email if you have any specific questions! Alyssa, who loved her Bradley classes so much, she's becoming an instructor (and is a little obsessed with pregnancy and birth now) > > Hi guys- > > I have discovered that I am pregnant for the first time in my life > and I am close to forty years old! Guest guest
has your daughter seen the diet for pregnant and nursing mothers? http://www.westonaprice.org/children/dietformothers.html > I too am interested in any recommendations for any doctors/midwives that > offer pre-natal care.
