Dianne and group,

My neighbors have a child with DS. The parents are teachers. When the

child was two they started 1:1 Direct Instruction by another neighbor who was

getting her masters degree in special education. She worked seven to ten hours

per week from the age of two to six. She used direct instruction techniques and

curricula. The child is a young teen now and is doing very well.

[ ] Other 'related' disorders and ABA

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows of, or is doing ABA/AVB/Discrete

Trial Training with children diagnosed with any of the following

disorders/syndromes and their results:

1. Angelman Syndrome

2. Prader - Willy Syndrome

3. Syndrome

4. Down Syndrome

5. Rett Syndrome

Thank you,

Dianne

There are probably numerous examples across behavioral journals, but

here are just a few from the journal of applied behavior analysis:

Maglieri, K. A. DeLeon, I. G. -Catter, V. & Sevin, B. M.

(2000). Treatment of covert food stealing in an individual with

Prader-Willi syndrome.. Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis,. 33,

615-618.

O'Reilly, Mark R, Lacey, , and Lancioni, Giulio E. Assessment

of the influence of back ground noise on escape-maintained problem

behavior and pain behavior in a child with syndrome Journal

of Applied Behavior Analysis

Volume 33 Issue 4 WIN 2000

Farb, J., & Thorne, J. M. (1978). Improving the generalized mnemonic

performance of a down's syndrome child. Journal of Applied Behavior

Analysis, 11, 413-419.

Dalton, A. J., Rubino, C. A., & Hislop, M. W. (1973). Some effects

of token rewards on school achievement of children with Down's

syndrome. Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, 6, 251-259.
