Guest guest
Hi, I did not get any responses so I reposted. 1. Do we need to do fill ins even if the child can answer the corresponding question form of intraverbal? 2. I try to come up with fill ins for the 'Wh' questions and sometimes I end up with strange sentences - Ex: What are some animals with whiskers? becomes 'Animals with whiskers are ____. My team feels this is not typical child (or adult )language and is not necessary especially when the child can master the corresponding 'Wh' question easily. Any input regarding this is appreciated. Guest guest
I know that on the ABBLS fill-ins are a separate step on the grid. They come before the WH questions. I would think if the WH questions are mastered you would not need to teach each as a fill-in. However, if the skill is generalized I would think the fill-in format should be easily answered. I would not probe every one, but, pick a few and see where you are. For instance if the following is mastered: Where do you go pee-pee? Potty Probe: You go pee-pee in the _________. Any other opinions? [ ] fill ins Hi, I did not get any responses so I reposted. 1. Do we need to do fill ins even if the child can answer the corresponding question form of intraverbal? 2. Guest guest
Mahija, I agree, if a fill-in sounds weird, then don't use it. If any Sd sounds weird, it is weird. I would mix it up even more than what you listed. -some animals with whiskers are... -name some animals with whiskers. -what are some animals with whiskers? -what are some animals that have whiskers? -tell me some animals that have whiskers. We don't keep track of which particular format might have been used on a particular target on a particular trial--we just randomly mix them up. In our son's case, once a particular carrier phrase has been learned with several targets, he can respond correctly to that carrier phrase with novel targets.
