Guest guest
I did not respond to 7 Keto DHEA..was not strong enough for me even when I doubled it. In fact, my nutritionist thought that I might actually be converting it to estrogen. So, for now, I am taking DHEA and no progesterone. My DHEA doubled in 6 months (original lab I was in the 300 range). I know that I will NEVER be able to take progesterone due to my endometriosis...bummer. Not sure how this will affect me during menopause. This is in response to several postings lately about DHEA being converted to estrogen and/or testosterone. It is my understanding that 7 Keto DHEA does NOT convert. B probably could research and explain this much further, but I only know that my estrogen dominance symptoms would not go away with progesterone as long as I was on DHEA, but that when I found out about and switched to 7 Keto DHEA I still had the adrenal support and the estrogen dominance became a thing of the past........ as long as I use the progesterone creme (not religiously twice or even once daily now, only when I feel that edgy sense that signals the estrogen dominance for me.....but the forgetfulness could be helping me forget the symptoms?????) a S. -- Cauleywww.shaneandlauracauley.blogspot.com Home Cell
Guest guest
I had the same experience with 7 KETO DHEA. I've been monitoring my DHEA levels for 5 years with saliva and blood tests. While I was on the Schiff brand pills @ 12.5 mg. a day and/or the DHEA Life-Flo brand cream, my levels stayed up. As soon as my doctor changed this regimen and put me on the oral 7 KETO DHEA @ 10 mg. a day, with the assumption I wouldn't need as much because it doesn't convert, my next tests registered nearly NOTHING, which greatly surprised me. And, the test I took, which was a saliva test I was supposed to stop the 7 KETO DHEA 5 days before to get a clean test. I didn't because the 7 KETO DHEA was being mixed in with my timed released compounded hydrocortisone. So, obviously I wasn't getting any DHEA from this combo! I was shocked. So, I've gone back to what I was doing before. I do use Progesterone and find that the Life-Flo brand works extremely well. I use it morning and night (I'm post menopausal) and my saliva and blood tests stay pretty much in range. I get it in the larger 4 oz. size from Swanson Vitamins online as they have the best price I've been able to find. Guest guest
Yes, it's correct that the 7-Keto doesn't convert to testosterone. 7-Keto is an intermediate metabolite of DHEA - 3-acetyl-7-oxo- dehydroepiandrosterone. From what I've read, they really don't know what the action is. It is not considered a key part of the hormonal pathways, but it may be supportive. I'm one of the folks that cannot take regular DHEA as it goes straight to testosterone and I become mean, angry and impulsive. I do find that if I lower the amount of 7- Keto that I take, my DHEA-S (which is another metabolite of DHEA) gets lower and I have slightly less energy. If you look at the steroid hormonal pathways, it looks like one of the benefits of the DHEA metabolites is that they can increase Estriol (the weakest of the estrogen hormones). Estriol is known to improve immune response. So, that may be the indirect benefit that some of us are getting with the 7-Keto. Whereas, the regular DHEA pathway goes to both Testosterone and Estrogen, as well as producing some of the metabolites, but based on my experience, my body shunts it all to testosterone. Guest guest
I'm in the same boat as you, I don't think I'll ever be able to take DHEA again. It raised my testosterone and caused mild hirsutism but I think it also converted into estrogen because I cleared up my skin. Are you able to take 7 Keto? Guest guest
I do okay with the 7-keto - it does seem to help my adrenals. . > > > > > > This is in response to several postings lately about DHEA being > > converted to estrogen and/or testosterone. Guest guest
It helped my adrenals as well. Maybe after a year I'll try 7Keto. Yvette > > I do okay with the 7-keto - it does seem to help my adrenals. > > . > > >
