Hi Cyndie and welcome to the group, Your story is so familiar to so many of us. Trying to find good, caring doctors is a monumental task for many of us. Too many, unfortunately, have not been able to find or keep a doctor. I've dealt with chronic pain since I was a teenager and had spinal surgery at age 17. I'm now 47. In the last five years or so I can finally say that my condition is finally managed. I'm far from being pain free and really no longer expect or even hope for that. But I have reached a point where I have a good team of doctors - and it is a team effort - and my pain is controlled enough to allow me to do some of the housework and some volunteer work. I wish you the best in your search. I would also like to welcome all of the other members who have recently joined us. Moderator, Yahoo! Guest guest
Hi Cyndi, I completely relate to your post. I have been in chronic pain for most of my adult life. While they did find some of the problem with Degenerative Disc Disease, there was still a slew of things that went undiagnosed. > It is such a relief ..... > > It was a relief to finally be diagnosed. I had run the gamut of doctors > and alternative treatments and was at my personal end. Finally a doctor > told me some of the things that were going on a prescribed the proper > treatment and well as medications. > > It's very difficult trying to plan our days when we don't know from one hour to the next what is in store. I was unable to work for many years and was on total disability. Circumstances changed and I had to go back to work. I'm very lucky that a close friend (who also copes with CP) lead me to a job that I am able to tolerate most of the time. I have those days where I can barely put one foot in front of the other. Anyway, welcome to the group. Altho our stories vary in specifics, we share a common bond in dealing with chronic pain and all that it entails. Kathleen in Calif. Guest guest
Hi Sharon and thanks. I've always been alone with the pain and its problems so finding this discussion group is really great. > > Hi , > Well come in a sit down and let your mail box be filled up every day. > I'm Sharon in Australia and I have rotton back pain that was a result > of lifting too many 100kg+ patients one day whilst I was working in the > ambulance. You've had your life's share haven't you. :-( I hope it gets better for you from now on. Most of us have been down so low at some time. And we are all in different states of progress. Some are handling it, some aren't. There are loads of people here that have good knowledge . Either from web sites, books, working experience, pain experiences. all sorts. So I think you can find what ever it is you need here. Albeit just a shoulder or an ear. Sharon.
Guest guest
Hi everyone. I can't remember if I sent an introduction to everyone or not as a new member, but just in case, here it is. I think that everyone has stress in their lives, and having some kind of stress relief is key to promoting good health and happiness. Whether it be music, art, literature, etc., it's good to have something in your life to " count on " . I am at a very stressful point in my life, and am happy to have found this group. Although I don't see myself being able to contribute a positive anytime soon, I enjoy and appreciate what I've been receiving from others so far. I hope that when my life becomes less hectic, I can repay the positive thinking to everyone else. Thanks for listening. ~Tonya
