Guest guest
Does anyone on this list have any information regarding the services that Arizona offers to families? I have a friend that is relocating there with a daughter that is on the spectrum and she needs some information. Does Arizona offer respite services or any In Home Supportive Service funding? How's the availability for ABA/AVB therapist/consultants out there? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Guest guest
Robin, Until VERY recently we only had one BCBA in the whole state working with kids on the spectrum - particulalry who know ABA/VB, now we have two, one who recently moved to Tucson. I receive services in the Phoenix area. What they can get depends on what county they will be living in, and the child's age. We get respite and hab services (which is where our ABA hours are covered). We are still very green about ABA/AVB, so just make sure she is careful about who she seeks services from. Other in home services covered are OT,PT, Speech, Music. It's not as daunting as it sounds unless you are coming from an area where ABA/VB services are provided in the schools as well. But we have a lot of things starting to happen that will hopefully make Arizona a top state in services for our kids thanks to our behavior analyst, she's a godsend! How soon are they moving? She really needs to contact our department of developmental disabilities, that's the first hoop to jump through. I'd be happy to help her. Sunah98@...
