About Shore -- Diagnosed with " atypical development with strong

autistic tendencies " and nonverbal until four years old, was once

recommended for residential placement. Because his parents believed in him, they

rejected that idea. is now completing his doctoral degree in special

education at Boston University with a focus on helping people on the autism

spectrum. consults internationally on issues pertinent to education,

relationships, employment, advocacy, and disclosure as discussed in his book

“Beyond

the Wall: Personal Experiences with Autism and Asperger Syndrome†and the

recently released, “Ask and Tell: Self-Advocacy and Disclosure for People on

the

Autism Spectrumâ€. His ability to articulate his experiences clearly and with

humor enable him to serve as an interpreter of the autistic experience including

his strong sensitivities that are the residue of his earlier autism.

About Naseef -- Bob is a psychologist in independent practice in

Philadelphia, specializing in families of children with special needs. He is

the

author of “Special Children, Challenged Parents: The Struggles and Rewards of

Parenting a Child With a Disabilityâ€, and is

himself, the father of an adult child with autism. Through his experiences as

both a parent and as a professional, Bob understands the trials, the

heartache, and the emotionally charged path that special families must travel in

order

to find acceptance and joy.

Together, Shore and Naseef serve as both a beacon of hope and

a model of acceptance. They combine their experiences and insights in a

unique and special way. You will laugh, cry, and reflect upon your own

experiences. Whether you are a family member or someone who works with autistic

individuals, you will leave refreshed, enlightened and energized. Don't miss it.
