Thanks for this information Faye. I do know that, even with lung nodules, that if this cancer is follicular, it will take up the RAI after surgery on the thyroid. I do know of people even with these types of lung nodules being fairly cured, as long as the nodules all over the body will take up the RAI. I know this is not so with the last two types, depending if they have metastisized beyond the thyroid. That's another reason it is so urgent to find out which type it is and treat it. Last two types----not so good. Yes, I've been reading on their website about the financial requirements, and there are several determinations there.

About Son in Law's cancer

,

I had spoken to Jan, when she was first diagnosed with her latest bout with cancer, about Essiac, an herbal tea, that has been around since the early 1900's. I was skeptical of it, at first, when my brother in law's sister started using it, for lung cancer....and refused chemo.

Her original petscan showed the cancer cells were in her lymph glands, esophogus (sp?), possibly her adrenals and her lung. She was told to "get her affairs in order...Lung cancer can't be cured". They gave her 6 mos to live if she had no chemo and, at best, 1 yr if she did.

She opted to not take chemo and, instead, started brewing the Essiac tea. She took it for 3 mos and went back in, for a new petscan. While the tumor in her lung had grown 25%, there were NO cancer cells in any of her other organs. So, this time, she agreed to do chemo...but continued to drink the tea. She never lost any hair, was never sick to her stomach, and lost little weight (she is 4'!!" and is tiny).

After her chemo, another petscan showed that the tumor in her lung was now 80% smaller so she agreed to a reduced, 2nd round. The petscan after the 2nd round of chemo showed the tumor was so small that it was barely detectable on the image.

I'm not saying that it would work for everyone or on all types of cancer. I can tell you that MD has done a study on it, however, since the patient's also received chemo, they can't say it does nor that it doesn't cure cancer...but they obviously took a serious look at it, if they did a study.

If you are interested in looking into it, I will be glad to find out where my sister orders her herbs to make it (they are certified herbs...I think that means they are pesticide free or "organic") and how it's made.

Faye

PS Even if your daughter has a good salary, they may still qualify for MD . While income is a factor, they also take into consideration their living expenses PLUS whether her income would be able to cover major medical expenses, like this....so tell her not to be too discouraged, yet...there is still hope. It's not like a county indigent care system where the income has to be extreme poverty level to be eligible.

Faye --

Please do find out where your sister gets her herbs and the recipe... I

have several friends right now just diagnosed with cancer and would

love to be able to share a natural thing which might help.

I've already decided that I will not do chemo should I ever succumb,

too, so it helps to have things available... in case.

I don't know about the essiac, as I did not use it.

You might want to read a book called, "Iodine and Breast Cancer" by Derry. (Yes. This is Dr. Derry of , BC, who p!$$ed off the local endo by really helping thyroid patients and lost his license.)

Chemo worked very well for my non-Hodgkins lymphoma. but I think if my breast cancer ever came back, I might look into iodine and other alternative cures.

I missed part of this discussion. There is a fabulous book I think called Cancer Salves by a foreign woman (Norwegian or something). It has great pictures in there, too. Lots of recipes and discussions about each one. You see cancers being pulled right out of the body through the skin -- painkillers recommended. I had a friend treat her breast cancer this way. It came out on it's own per instructions but she said it was unbelievably painful. So; painkillers, however you can get them. I have iven this book out three times but no one so far has tried anything. Other than getting hold of the painkillers, it looks like a pretty safe thing to at least TRY.

I have always had a problem with being 'acidic'.... I love meat and would never be a good vegetarian. I have always been concerned about my risk of cancer because of the acidic nature of my diet, and I know that my estrogen level is pretty high. I ran across this article last week. It was posted on another yahoo group I am a member to. From the research I have done this seems like another valid approach to dealing with it. I personally have empty capsules that I am going to fill with baking soda and I am going to make it a habit of taking a couple of these a few times during the month and see if it brings down the acid. If it were me, I would take as much as I could stand to swallow, drink a lot of water and get in a hot tub or sauna and stay there for as long as I could stand it.

Today I called the doctors office and they told me they are sending me an application for the 'Baylor Endo clinic, I am not sure where you live but if you want a form I am sure they would send you one. Your son in law is in my thoughts and prayers a lot because earlier this year one of the doctors that I went to told me he thought that I had a tumor. I about lost it trying to wrap my mind around what it would mean if he was right. Because we are the 'workers' we have a tendency to think we have control of things. In reality it is all up to God. I think most here can attest that doctors aren't always right. I personally did not have a tumor but when I heard those words it just scared me so bad. I am sorry you family is going thru this and you are in my prayers. I hope this helps you. McKinney Texas
