Guest guest Posted June 15, 2004 Report Share Posted June 15, 2004 Penn State Launches Reading Instruction for Special Education (RISE) a 15-credit certificate program offered in an independent learning format Penn State's new Reading Instruction for Special Education (RISE) certificate program provides advanced training for special education teachers in reading instruction for upper elementary and secondary students with special learning needs. Special education administrators, general education teachers and administrators, reading specialists, speech and language pathologists, educational consultants, and higher education faculty who are responsible for reading instruction may also attend. The program consists of a conference and three graduate-level courses, offered via videotape or DVD. The Summer Reading Conference: Effective Reading Instruction for Upper Elementary and Secondary Students with Special Learning Needs will be held June 21 to 25, 2004, at The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel in State College, Pennsylvania. Motivated individuals can complete the program in one academic year. Qualified Pennsylvania residents can earn contact hours toward fulfilling Act 48 requirements by completing courses in the RISE certificate program.
