[ ] TFFC reversal question What sort of prompt other than echoic prompts can be used for teaching the first reversals? For instance we have taught: " What do you cut with? SCISSORS " -this was taught with a tact to TFFC transfer: " What is it? " (picture of scissors held up) SCISSORS " What do you cut with? Guest guest
Consider the following a data point. You should experiment every day whenever possible to fine tune. The prompt for a TFFC reversal is the TFFC. Eg., Sd: What do you do with scissors? R: NR Sd: What do you cut with? R: Scissors. Sd: Good. What do you do with scissors? R: Cut. Having said that, we don't bother with TFFC reversals. We progress TFFC to IFFC to IFFC reversal. Much more streamlined. Prompt for TFFC's are pointing or echoic. Prompts for IFFC is to transfer to TFFC. Prompt for IFFC reversal is IFFC or TFFC. Just a data point. When the prompt fails, transfer back even further. Teachers need to dynamically gauge strength of prompt. Some students may need more careful data-taking on transfers at first--we only take data on independent responses. Your own data will guide you. Each flashcard has one FFC series on it. So the back of a scissors card would have: Scissors: TFFC - what do you cut paper with? IFFC - what do you cut paper with? rev - what do you do with scissors? (cut paper) Teacher can glance at the card to see what the transfer sequence is. For every FFC, there is a flashcard. This means multiple flashcards for every item (use a variety of pictures.) Put a sticker next to current target. In this particular example, you should be teaching other items that cut (knife, lawnmower, saw) to get the multiple-exemplar on cutting. I'd also have a pair of scissors and paper/playdough out so you can do some apropo distractor trials with " cut " (what are you doing? Show me cutting... etc..)
