Geraldine,

Have you tried giving him a time during the day that he can have free access to

the shirts and limiting the place where he has access to the shirts? For

example, he can have access to the shirts from 3:00-4:00 daily in his bedroom.

You may even want to put his favorite shirts in a basket that stays in his

bedroom. This will teach him when it is and is not appropriate to engage in

this behavior. When he begins to tear up your closet or go through the laundry,

you may want to try using overcorrection as a consequence. An example of this

would be having him rehang not only what he tore down in one closet, but also

hang other clothes that you have. Just be careful that this is not a

reinforcing activity!

I hope this helps!
