Help in new Jersey/York area

Hi folks,

Many of you know that my wife and I are bringing ABA / VB to Germany. We are

seeing great successes here already and in only 4 months the growth has been

exponential.

However, I need a little help from you. One of the families we have met has

received a diagnosis from one of the " Well meaning " Psychologists here who has

assessed their child and told the parents that regardless of what they do they

should resign themselves to the fact that their verbal child is Moderately to

severly autistic and that he probably has moderate mental retardation. The

family was devastated.

I have not personally met their child but from Mom's description he sounds to me

like your typical " atypical " autistic child who hasn't found anyone smart enough

to learn how to teach them yet.

The family is going to be in New Jersey for a couple weeks and would love to

know if there is a good place they can go for a second opinion on their child's

diagnosis or prognosis.

If anyone could email me back with the names and phone #s of good ABA clinics

that do diagnostics or any doctors or psychologists who know how to assess

Autistic children in the New Jersey/York area we would be much appreciative.

The family speaks fluent English so language is not an issue. Any help we could

offer them would not only benefit this family but show the other 58 members of

the new ABA-Autismus group that there is help out there for the parents of

Autistic kids if they get together and work as a team.
