Guest guest
I’m curious about this, too. I have been feeling a lot of pressure in and around my neck. It has been coming and going since this summer, but has been more persistent lately. Can this be from too much medication or anything? I haven’t had positive antibodies in the past, but I am guessing this can also be what it feels like during an antibody attack? Is that true? Lately I have been noticing that if I have to cough or if I laugh to hard, I get a choking sensation. Today it feels like I'm wearing a turtleneck, but I'm not. When I feel the area where my thyroid is, it is a little tender. Could this be a goiter developing? My glands are not swollen and I am not getting sick. Everything I have research suggests hyperthyroidism, but I am having more hypo symptoms lately. I have never had an ultrasound or scan, but I have been told by a previous doctor after a physical exam that I had an enlarged thyroid (this was also the endo that told me I was fine and to come back in 20 years when my thyroid " crapped out " ). -
Guest guest
Not sure, but I do have Hashimotos. It's not as noticeable today as it was yesterday. - To: Texas_Thyroid_Groups From: joyingrace@...Date: Wed, 12 Nov 2008 13:38:08 -0600Subject: RE: What does a goiter feel like? Guest guest
,It definitely could be a goiter. I swing between hypo and hyperthyroidism. Sometimes I find that the two conditions have similar symptoms--e.g. swelling in the legs, achy joints. The first symptom that I remember from my goiter was tightness in my neck. It felt was though the skin on my neck was stretching and while it wasn't hard to swallow, I felt pressure when I did. You may be able to feel a bump in the very center of your neck or even see your goiter in your profile. I had a bump that looked like a misshapen Adam's Apple.Hope this helps,Subject: RE: What does a goiter feel like? To: "Texas Thyroid Yahoo Group" <texas_thyroid_groups >Date: Wednesday, November 12, 2008, 7:32 PM Not sure, but I do have Hashimotos. Guest guest
Hi , That is how I feel... kind of like I'm wearing a turtleneck. I can't see or feel any bumps or noticeable swelling, but there is a tightness and discomfort. Thank you! - To: Texas_Thyroid_Groups From: amandamarzullo@...Date: Thu, 13 Nov 2008 21:27:17 -0800Subject: RE: What does a goiter feel like? ,It definitely could be a goiter.
