Guest guest
I have always allowed my daughter to " script " videos except during intensive teaching time with the idea it was improving her ability to vocalize/using her speech muscles. It is now interfering with learning and social interaction in preschool and I am determined to extinguish or limit this to private time only. Any suggestions? Guest guest
, He's never done an extended course of antibiotics, but I did notice he got brighter on the Augmentin in December. Dr. G did a strep test a while back and it came up negative, but I'll mention that did better while on the antibiotic and see what he says. Thanks for the info, Donna > Donna > Has your son ever done extended course of antibiotics? Dr. G says is not due to change antifungals until " spring " , whatever that means. He's been on Lamisil since about last March, so I guess " spring " means March. Our experience with antifungals has that they start to lose effectiveness a couple of months before the time Dr. G is willing to switch to a new one. I've been trying to convince him it's time for a change, but he wanted to try tweaking the SSRI and Tenex first. I wanted to mention that was actually a bit better this afternoon and tonight. I had him ride his bike for about a half hour and then we had a pillow fight (!). It helped wake him up for a while. Thanks to everyone for the help and insight, Donna
Guest guest
My son scripts alot. Anyone have good experience of it turning into more functional speech. Did a typical SSRI help in that. thks Kavita Re: Started fluco - question about antiviral I would not. If you have returned the packet of information already and paid the $175 it should only take about 2 months to get your appointment. The only reason I say that is because if you don't know how he feels about those things, it's best to just follow his steps for what to do in the meantime - meaning start the diet. You can use a probiotic like acidophilus or kyodophilus, too. I don't know how he feels about OLE or Virastop so for me, I just wouldn't do it. Guest guest
What we got from our ssri is much more functional speech and a lot of new speech. He now says things that he never said before the ssri and is trying to speak in more complicated sentences. We are also seeing a lot of unprompted sentences. We never really had much of a problem with scripting as he never really said more than 3 or 4 word sentences, " i want... " etc. so I can't say if ssri's will help with scripting but it had *definitely* helped with speech overall. cheryl On May 15, 2007, at 10:17 AM, kavita mallik wrote: > My son scripts alot. Guest guest
Cheryl, Which ssri do you use and what dosage? I have a 5 yr old and haven't tried one. I wasn't sure how old yours was, but we have been thinking about trying an ssri. Guest guest
I echo Cheryl's experience, for the most part. I recently heard that scripting often precedes/accompanies a growth in speech. For my 5 y.o. son, scripting has come and gone, depending on whether he has been sick or we are adjusting his meds (or both), or if he is going through a stressful period. He recently went through all of the above, and was scripting again during it, but he has stopped again now that he is well and also we recently upped his SSRI by 1/8 tab/day. His language during the last few months has reached the level to where I can have short conversations with him on occasion. He also recently answered a complex question (What are you thinking about?) and told me about a dream he had. Guest guest
Thanks Kristy and Cheryl. Its our next step on the protocol which I am petrified yet excited about. I am hopeful of similar gains for my little guy. Thks again for ure insight. rgds Kavita Re: Started fluco - question about antiviral > > I would not. Guest guest
My son is 3.5. We started on Zoloft at 1/4 pill for a week, then half and after a month we are now up to 3/4 and Dr. G said he expects he'll probably go up to 1 or 1.5. I was not excited about starting this part of the protocol at all. I was accepting but not happy. I'm still not all that happy but I can't deny the gains at all.
