Guest guest
Dear Parents and Members, I have been a member of the DTT list for several years and my husband and I have been ABA therapists and consultants in the Houston area since 1999 when we got our first start working with Dr Carbone. Since then we have been passionate about helping as many children as we could reach. My husband and I recently relocated to California to open a multidisciplinary clinic. The Bright Minds Institute is now open in San Francisco, in the Presidio, and offers an array of services to patients from toddlers to young adults. Our multidisciplinary clinic offers ABA, a European approach to physical therapy, traditional PT, OT, speech, cognitive neurology, neuropsychology, clinical psychology, educational psychology, cognitive therapy, family therapy, art therapy, and pharmacological therapy. Additionally, our patients have access to cutting edge technology such as the DESSA, which is a highly sensitive EEG machine that has the capability to evaluate real time auditory and visual processing. Bright Minds Institute is one of the few places to have a DESSA (the other being at Harvard). Additionally, our clinic is directed by a cognitive behavioral neurologist, Dr. Miranda, who is one of the only neurologists capable of reading the DESSA. We work from a medical model, in that we try to treat from the inside out. New patients undergo a thorough evaluation which may include brain scans; from that information, we work to create individualized teaching and treatment plans that can address any deficient areas found by Dr. Miranda. Our language based ABA approach utilizes natural environment training to encourage a natural development of language in children who are nonverbal or who have limited verbal abilities. For those with physical limitations or severe physical disorders, our director of physical therapy is highly trained in the European (and traditional) approach to physical therapy which utilizes the therasuit, universal exercise unit, and intensive suit therapy. To find out more information about the numerous services we offer, please go to our website: brightmindsinstitute.com or call: 415-561- 6755. We are very excited about what is happening here at our clinic and feel that many children could benefit greatly from our approaches. Space is filling quickly, but if you mention hearing about us on the DTT list, I will try to give you priority. Sincerely, Misty mjones@... rjones@...
