Who is Jim Sinclair?

Jim Sinclair is an autistic person (not a person with autism) who

has completed a B.A. in Psychology and in Rehabilitation Counseling.

Jim is also the coordinator of Autism Network International, an

international autistic self- and peer advocacy and support

organization, since 1992. Jim founded Autreat, the first annual

gathering of its kind designed by and for autistic people, and has

organized Autreat since 1996. Jim also pioneered the concept of

service dogs to assist autistic people. Jim's writings have been

widely reprinted and translated into many languages.

What topics will he present on Nov 2nd?

PROFESSIONAL WORKSHOP: 1-3pm

Autistic Culture: This will present a " cultural " model of autism, as

an alternative to the traditional " deficit " model. Observations and

examples will be given from the autistic community that has

developed within Autism Network International.

PARENT WORKSHOP: 5-8pm

Parents' Story Hour: This interactive workshop for parents uses

several children's books as discussion springboards for considering

common issues of concern to parents of autistic children.

Autism-Positive Parenting: This session will present practical

guidelines for working *with* your child's autism, instead of

against it.
