The Elija Foundation, Levittown, NY will host its 3rd Annual Gala on Friday, October 22nd 2004 from 7pm to 12am at the Hilton Hotel in Huntington, NY. The event is organized to raise funds and to expand the awareness of Autism. Funds are used to further this worthwhile cause and to provide need based and educational scholarships. “The growth of this foundation is a testament to the support that we continually receive,†said founders Debora and Dibra. “The Gala not only provides an opportunity to raise funds, but offers a chance to recognize all those actively involved in the Autism Community.†The event will honor Long Island native Maurice, Ph.D., an outstanding Autism advocate and parent. She is well known for her highly praised book “ Let Me Hear Your Voice,†a personal account of a family’s experience with Autism. She has also published behavioral intervention manuals, “Behavioral Intervention for Young Children with Autism†and “Making a Difference,†for both parents and professionals. (more) Maurice is the Elija Chariot Award Recipient for 2004. The award is given annually to a dedicated person who effectively contributes to the public’s understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder. The Gala will feature dining, dancing, and fun for everyone. Festivities will consist of unique entertainment provided by Rock-L Productions. Live auctions will also be held for interested contributors. The Elija Foundation is a not-for-profit, 501© (3) organization serving parents, educators, professionals and caregivers of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) on Long Island, New York. The foundation was established in the spring of 2002, founded by two parents who were determined to incorporate the most effective interventions for their children on the Autistic Spectrum.
