Guest guest
- Here's some " fun " Mystery-HistoryHas Mickey Mouse ALWAYS been part of our " Collective Consciousness " ? Archaeologists discover Iron Age Mickey Mouse Published: 8th June 2007 17:00 CETOnline: http://www.thelocal.se/7544/ Swedish archaeologists have uncovered signs of a Viking precursor to Mickey Mouse. Among the objects found during excavations at Uppåkra in southern Sweden is an iron age figure bearing a strong resemblance to the classic cartoon character. But archaeologist Jerry Rosengren from Lund University is confident that the bronze brooch - used as a clasp to fasten women's clothing - was in fact intended to represent a Lion King rather than a mere mouse. " The find is from around 900 AD. It was probably a lion's head that originally came from France. It was however more than likely designed by somebody who had never actually seen a lion. " Instead it turned into this sort of strange, fantasy animal, " he told The Local. Despite the cartoon coincidence, Rosengren insists there are no plans to open a Viking equivalent to Disneyland. " No, I don't think so. But we do have a big exhibition at the Lund Historical Museum, which includes two to three thousand objects, " he said. Archaeologists have recovered a total of over 20,000 Iron Age items since digging began at Uppåkra in 1996. The town functioned as a major cultist and political center from the first to the tenth century, at which point it was replaced by the strategically better placed city of Lund just five kilometers away This entry was posted on June 16, 2007 at 9:43 pmhttp://www.thelocal.se/7544/ http://bmarchismouren.wordpress.com/2007/06/16/iron-age-mickey-mouse-found/ 700-year-old picture of 'Mickey Mouse' found in Austrian church: Art historian Eduard Mahlknecht ... told Austrian daily 'Krone: " St was often depicted surrounded by various animals and sea-life, and in this case something that resembles Mickey Mouse. " 700 Year Old 'Mickey Mouse' found Austrian Church! 700-year-old picture of 'Mickey Mouse' found in Austrian church What appears to be a 700-year-old picture of Mickey Mouse has been discovered on a church fresco in Austria. Walt Disney first sketched his character in 1928 but an Austrian art historian spotted an uncannily similar drawing. The painting, which has been dated back to the early 14th Century, is in the Community Church in Malta, Carinthia. Next to a large sketch of St. is a clear drawing of the mouse. Art historian Eduard Mahlknecht believes the similarity to Mickey is pure coincidence. He told Austrian daily 'Krone: " St was often depicted surrounded by various animals and sea-life, and in this case something that resembles Mickey Mouse. " It is most likely to be a drawing of a beaver or a weasel. " However, Carinthia's tourism office is already thinking of ways to cash in on the sketch. Siggi Neuschitzer, manager of the Malta Tourism Association, said: " The similarity of the painting to Mickey Mouse is so astounding that the Disney concern could even lose its world-wide copyright license. " Our Mickey Mouse is 700 years older than Disney's and we will get it legally examined. " http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/2481749.stm Mayan Mickey?
