Guest guest
I never dismissed DIR or claimed it to be ineffective. I don't know enough about the approach to do that. I just find it strange that a hospital like Texas Children's would choose that approach instead of ABA which is empirically validated. I'm not at all opposed to parents incorporating whatever they feel is going to be effective for their child and their family. My other point is that I just don't see how you can " teach " anything without incorporating some type of basic learning principles which are also the foundation of the science of ABA. > > > > > It has always been very interesting to me that Bridges chose a > modality > > > that > > > has no solid research to back it up-but that's what happens when > the wife > > > of > > > the president of Texas Children's gets to run the show. > Floortime, while > > > it's currently being studied, was developed by a psychiatrist > who never > > > bothered to conduct a study to see if it was even effective. > Apparently > > > Texas Children's is so uninterested in science based > interventions, so > > > rather than choosing ABA, they chose something unproven and > charge people > > > a > > > LOT of money for it. > > > > > > " Most people say that is it is the intellect which makes a great > > > scientist. > > > > > > They are wrong: it is character.
