I never dismissed DIR or claimed it to be ineffective. I don't know

enough about the approach to do that. I just find it strange that a

hospital like Texas Children's would choose that approach instead of

ABA which is empirically validated. I'm not at all opposed to

parents incorporating whatever they feel is going to be effective

for their child and their family. My other point is that I just

don't see how you can " teach " anything without incorporating some

type of basic learning principles which are also the foundation of

the science of ABA.
