Guest guest
Hi Everyone I would like to hear form anyone who has had their child go through periods of moaning and being very grumpy all the time. I have a son who is now over 4 yrs and it is most out of character, but recently he spends a lot of time just running off and moaning when things don't go exactly as he might have planned them. This can include things like not getting biscuits when he wants to un-known things that completely baffle us. I suspect it is due to frustration at not being able to adequately ask for things, but he is manding a lot at other times. I guess he feels it is easier to try and obtain things himself, but this is a regression, he never used to do this even when his manding skills were not so good. I feel torn: I obviously want to find out what it is he wants, but this kind of reinforcers the moaning, which I really feel I should not pay too much attention to. It is most definitely a new behaviour that I have not seen in him before. Sometimes he comes into the room and then just runs off moaning. I think that sometimes he likes things to just be a certain way, like where people are sitting at the table and this can spark his mood off. His self-stim behaviour has also increased. He seems utterly miserable and I find this upsetting. Any ideas anyone? What might I do? Thanks Bev
