Cost is $50 and includes a 1-year membership to DAFEAT. Workshop Location: 3100 Research Blvd. Kettering, OH 45420-4022 Deadline to register is Jan. 7, 2005. http://www.dafeat.com/Pdfs/DAFEAT%20Workshop%20Registration.doc This workshop will focus on: * The key principles to understanding behavior (both adaptive and maladaptive); * The motivational variables under which children acquire language. * The teaching procedures necessary for success within a VB program, concentrating on: -- the use and purpose of errorless learning techniques, -- mixing and varying of instructional skills, -- providing a deliberate ratio of easy skills versus acquisition skills, --shaping, chaining, prompting, and fading. * Skinner's behavioral classification of language, known as the Verbal Operants. These include: mands (requests); tacts (labels); echoic (vocal imitation); motor imitation; RFFCs; receptive language; and intraverbals (answering questions, conversation). Ralston is a Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst and independent behavior analyst from Lexington, KY. In the past five years Ms. Ralston has worked with over 100 families with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental disabilities, as well as providing education to hundreds of parents and professionals interested in Applied Behavior Analysis and Verbal Behavior methodologies in Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio. Following the attendance of Dr. J. Carbone's workshops #1-4, Ms. Ralston attended 90 hours of coursework in ville, FL with Carbone, Ed. D., BCBA, and began a year-long distance mentorship with him to fulfill her certification requirements prior to sitting for the national board exam in Nashville, TN. Ms. Ralston spent four years serving a multitude of roles, before eventually rising to CEO, in Kentucky's largest in-home provider of ABA services prior to it's closing in August of 2003. During that time she developed seven manuals and over 20 trainings pertaining to the behavioral treatment of children with ASD for the employees and parents that the company maintained. Since October of 2003, Ms. Ralston has continued to serve families and agencies across the tri-state area as an independent contractor working privately with families and providing consultation and training to schools and agencies.
