Guest guest
Hi! I could use some tips or maybe a different angle to look at this situation. It took a good 8 month to train my son to potty train for bladder. He still needs reminder to go but manages to stay dry all day if reminded to use the bathroom. We were grateful and relieved for that and figured it would take at least a year for bowel training so we patiently tried different ways but alas i am starting to despair that it will never happen. the main problem being that he refuses to sit on the potty for more than a minute, holds his bowel movement for when he is alone, and is conditioned to do it standing up. Right now between school and home, we are desensitizing him to his dislike of sitting on the toilet by providing reinforcers when he sits on the potty ring but I can't see that he will make the connection. Any word of wisdom out there. Sorry for the long post.A.
