Guest guest
Hi! I have a 3 and a half year old son with autism. I currently have a 25 hour home based verbal behavior program. We have unsuccessfully tried to potty train our son. First we did positive practice and secondly we would take him to the potty on a schedule. The problem is holds his urine and stool to the point of having 2 UTI's and bladder spasms when we have tried to train him. He has the cognitive understanding but for some reason he only feels " comfortable " voiding in the diaper. When he has peed in the potty he becomes very frightened and there hasn't been a reinforcer that could win him over. Does anyone have any advice ?
