Guppy " CC: Dionne Parrish , I e-mailed you earlier this month seeking your help to provide a workshop for the / College Station area. I found out a little more information about the facilities we will try to use. There are locations in Houston and The Woodlands that are classrooms equipped with tv and video equipment to do a live feed with a facility here in College Station. I need to ask more questions about the individual facilities, but here is a complete list: http://ttvn2.tamu.edu/home/site_ref.php?order=city & searchstr= & orga= & city= & addr= & \ sitename= We desperately need to do a workshop for beginner / intermediate level parents on knowing their rights with the school system and IEPs. This seems like a first priority needed here as there are MANY parents in ISD having major problems with the elementary schools. Can you help us find someone who would be good for this and who would be willing to do a probably one-hour presentation plus Q & A time at one of these facilities in Houston or The Woodlands to connect with parents in / College Station? If there is a speaker fee, give me some idea what to expect and we'll try to figure out how to cover it. In the future, we hope to do regular workshops using these facilities where your groups can attend where the speaker is and our community can participate via the video feed. We need to do one or two to work out the kinks of the system, but there is the potential to reach many more people if you notice the long list of cities that are part of this communications network. This will be in connection with the Family Support Network which is affiliated with Texas A & M University, however TAMU will not be listed as a sponsor of these events.
