Admission will also be accepted at the door. Topics: PROFESSIONALS WORKSHOP: 1-3pm Autistic Culture: This will present a " cultural " model of autism, as an alternative to the traditional " deficit " model. Observations and examples will be given from the autistic community that has developed within Autism Network International. PARENTS WORKSHOP: 5-8PM Parents' Story Hour: This interactive workshop for parents uses several children's books as discussion springboards for considering common issues of concern to parents of autistic children. Autism-Positive Parenting: This session will present practical guidelines for working *with* your child's autism, instead of against it. Who is Jim Sinclair? Jim Sinclair is an autistic person who has completed a B.A. in Psychology and is currently working on a Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. Jim who has worked professionally with individuals on the spectrum for many years, is a coordinator for an international orginization of autistic individuals and founder of Autreat, the first annual gathering of its kind designed by and for autistic people, and has organized Autreat since 1996. Jim's writings have been widely reprinted and translated into many languages.
