Dear List Members,

Today 2nd April 2008 is first commemoration of World Autism Awareness Day.

In Mumbai , India Parents Support Group organised one press conference

on 28th March and all over the world the day will be commemorated as WAAD.

A presentation was made in the House of Lords in the Palace of

Westminster in London recently. The distinguished Sri Lanka born

singer/songwriter Nimal Mendis presented a copy of 'Open Every Door'

sung by Gresha Schuilling to Lady Uddin who has campaigned on autism

and Asperger's Syndrome for many years.

Nimal Mendis wrote the autism song for the Autism Awareness Campaign

UK. The song is about a 12 year old boy with autism. It is the cry of

every parent or caregiver who has a child with autism.

As parent and trustee of Forum For Autism , Mumbai , am appealing all

concerned to adopt a paradigm shift of outlook and attitude towards

the individuals of Autism. They need dignity and love from all of us.
