I have not used MSM.

I don't plan on using MSM.

I have no idea how you processed this batch.

I have no idea what emulsifying wax is.

I have no idea if your ounces are avoirdupois ounces or fluid ounces.

I don't know what Emulsifan CB is. (I think it may be Beheneth-10 which

is not even close to Stearic Acid)

And I have no idea what happened, but it sounds like a solubility

problem.

I don't know anything for sure.. LOL There, I'm covered! heheh I will not,

will not eat green eggs and ham! I will not eat them Sam-I-Am :-)

But I think you used too much MSM... if, from what I have read here on this

list, you are supposed to use under a 20% ratio to the liquid in a said recipe

(I hope I said that right..LOL), then at a liquid content of 14 oz., you would

use less than 2.8 ounces. You used 3.5.. that's why it spiked.

for example, if you were going to use 17% (not 17% if total recipe) then:

14 oz. X 17% is the same as 14 oz. X .17 = amount to use

But that is all according to what I have read here.. so I know nothing.. LOL

If we assume that these ounces are avoirdupois ounces (aka weight ounce

not fluid ounces), then we can convert this recipe into a formula.

The formula is:

Distilled Water = 57.14%

MSM Powder = 14.29%

Emu Oil = 8.16%

Rose Hip Oil = 4.08%

Comfrey Infusion = 4.08%

Emulsifying Wax = 6.12%

Emulsifan CB = 4.9%

Germaben II = 0.82%

Essential Oils = 0.41%

If I am not mistaken, this is within the solubility spec for MSM. Of

course, we have no idea of how this recipe was made and how accurate

the measurements.

Of course, if the recipe was processed without compensating for water

lost through evaporation, then the concentration of all the other

ingredients would go up, including the MSM.

There are too many unknowns.

14.29 is more then 20% of 57.14. Am I wrong in interpreting what I read as the

ratio for adding MSM to a recipe is MSM to Water content?

Told ya I know nothing.. <G>
