Hello,

I'd appreciate some help on this case:

56 yo overweight female cc: edema, dermatitis, occasional gas/bloating, constipation, menopausal symptoms (wt. gain, hot flashes, etc.) allergies, apnea.

Married, professional woman with her own business. Dx'd as a child with rare blood clotting disorder "platelet release deficit." whereby spleen destroys platelets and white blood cells have a protein coating which causes them to be trapped in spleen (bone marrow production OK.) Chronic edema began 5 yrs ago, gradually has become worse. >seaside < afternoon. Limited exercise dt M/S (joint) pains. GI and menopausal symptoms have improved with naturopathic treatments. Rx Hx of compounded prometrium, Currently takes Calcium/Mg, K, Vit C/D plus Tx plan items.

PE. Rust-like coloration B on both legs, +1/2 pitting edema, slight swelling B hands, slightly enlarged spleen, pulses spleen and liver out of balance, tongue pale with little coating, iridology thyroid, ovary, kidney

Labs. ACTH stimulation slight "blip", but WNL according to endocrinologist at OHSU,Diagnostechs ASI cortisol low at all times except midnight (retest), first test showed out of ranges (high) at noon and 4:00, low salivary IgA, Borderline DHEA Abn on WBCs, platelets, etc. Liver enzymes WNL, High cholesterol, Chol/HDL 5.6, Glucose 127, TSH 2.260 thyroid antibodies WNL. US Biotek shows dairy, cranberry, sugar and slight wheat sensitivity.

Tx over past five months-BTGs, Blood Type A Food Choices, lower glycemic index foods, UNDAs 1,20,258, 2, 20, 243, exercise, juniperus, thyroid support minerals, probiotics, B's, etc. No change in edema.

I know there's an underlying endocrine issue --but I seem to be missing something on physiology. Your suggestions would be appreciated!

Think about lymphatic congestion, since lymphatic system returns fluids/proteins from the capillaries directly into the interstitium. The blood disorder maybe related to the Liver (appears as though you have been focusing on that), but also do think Spleen or Heart.Perhaps, more kidney and/or CV drainage remedies. Is the pt gluten-free? Skin, allergies, AI-like condition of platelet and WBC destruction. Some thoughts.Dr. Igor N.
