hi all --

I have a difficult and complicated case that I would love some input

on. 22 month old girl with seizures, paralysis, and hydrocephalus

secondary to a meningitis infection at 4 months old. Baby was born

healthy at 36 weeks, breastfed, received normal round of vaccinations

at 2 months without obvious negative effects. During the meningitis

she apparently had several strokes (according to MRI) and has had

constant seizures and almost total paralysis since. Mom currently

takes her for weekly osteopathic treatments, feldenkreis work, and to

a chiropractic neurologist in addition to regular therapy. She has

also been working with a homeopath (calc carb and calc sil have been

given constitutionally).

She has reflux and dysphagia and is fed through a g-tube (Enfamil

lipil) -- she can only handle a few drops of water orally

(homeopathics were given this way). Current issues Mom would like to

address are constipation, baseline lung congestion, and immune

function (she had pneumonia several times last winter). Seizure

control also is a major goal -- she is currently seizing 1-2 x daily.

Current supplements include probiotics, fish oil, folic acid,

colostrum, and fiber. Meds are topamax, bactrim, prevacid, pulmacort,

and albuterol, all consistently.

I am thinking that I would like to start UNDA numbers with this girl,

but would love some input before I choose her first round of numbers.

Have any of you worked with a case similar to this before? Thanks in

advance for any input!!!

Hello and If this was my patient, I would consider that she was reacting to the vaccine she was given at 2 or 4 months of age and would give her remedies to try and clear those effects and begin drainage and gut healing. Can you improve what she is "eating" through the g-tube?? It would seem that she would need some functional homeopathic prescribing instead of just a constitutional remedy. Regards, White ND, Ct
