I am popping out of lurkdom to ask a question which I hope some of you very

knowledgeable folks can answer.

I just read on another list that if there is borax (20 Mule stuff) in a

lotion recipe that neither Germall or Germaben will be effective as a

preservative due to the borax changing the ph of the lotion.

Can someone please confirm or poop on this information and, if it is

correct, please suggest another preservative (Phenonip maybe?) to use in

lieu of the Germall or Germaben?

Many thanks for all the wonderful information on this list. I rarely ask a

question because I am so busy reading and learning!

TIA

Germall II/Germaben II is not effective in emulsions that have a pH

above 9. What is the pH of these borax recipes?
