Guest guest
Maybe I came in at the tail end of this conversation here but hey I will try. I am confused as to why the smr for a 9yo child is at 12-15Hz. I don't know that I have ever trained that high on a child of that age and would probably try to train lower. I would also try working on the hot temps as well. So I would probably do the smr for half the time and the hot temps the other half of the time he is training and see how the tics are there. The smr will relax the little guy and make him able to sit longer so that when you do the temps he can deal with it. By the way he is shoing signs of a highly intelligent kid. Ya better get his IQ tested. Many kids that show ADHD behavior, hat e write, loves to read, can't stay on task at school and ability to articualte well for their age may be an above average child. Guest guest
Theresa, When you did the assmnt there is a place on the reports page that gives you the P4 EC reading in Alpha. I would use this to measure and dictate what my bands are for a client. So say a person is 10 then that would make thier LoBeta (SMR if you are on Central) at 12-15Hz. SO Peak Alpha is read at P4 with EC. I would agree with in that you have probably trained him in Beta not in LoBeta and this would have probably increased his tics. By the way as far as being a newbie I consider myself one as well and all questions are excellent ones. How low will we go? Check out Yahoo! Messenger’s low PC-to-Phone call rates. Guest guest
Hi Theresa,You didn't say what your son's SMR EO at C4 is. For tics, you might try training SMR up at C4 with a stop on theta and hibeta. As mentioned in some of the other posts, you'll have to figure out what SMR is for your son. It might be 10-13 or lower. You can do this on the fly by clicking on tools and then filter. Set the bandwidth at 12-15 and allow him to train for 5 minutes. Then, lower it to 11.5-14.5 and allow him to train for a while. And so on, till you find a bandwidth that he says is right or that you can see is right by the decrease in his muscle tone. Some kids actually and magically just slump. When you find the right SMR bandwidth, adjust the theta bandwidth accordingly.Jane Talk is cheap. Use Yahoo! Messenger to make PC-to-Phone calls. Guest guest
Theresa, I think I was unclear in my original note. What I meant was you didn't say what your son's SMR percent is at C4. Is it less than 10 eyes open? Jane > > Hi Theresa, > > You didn't say what your son's SMR EO at C4 is. For tics, you might try training SMR up at C4 with a stop on theta and hibeta. Guest guest
Hi Theresa,There's a possibility that your son's peak alpha is too low to use the assessment's number as a guideline. The assessment formula is taking whatever frequency is highest within the 8-12 bandwidth and selects that as peak alpha. If someone's peak is 7.5, the assessment formula will not pick that up. If this is the case, the SMR eyes open percent is misleading also. This very thing happened to me recently with a teen-ager who had tics. On her assessment, her SMR was 10.5% and her peak alpha was high also. That didn't make any sense considering her tics. So, we replayed the recorded assessment session at the parietals, eyes closed, and watched the bars. The tallest ones were in the 6-8 range; we determined that her peak alpha was 8 at the most. Training SMR at C4 helped her stop tic-ing. We are continuing to train. Peak alpha is definately on the agenda!Jane Get your own web address for just $1.99/1st yr. We'll help. Yahoo! Small Business.
