Guest guest
Hi all, In order to get an independent FBA, the district must first complete their own. You have 12 months to request an IEE for it. It was always my understanding that you had to be in ARD to request it. The funny thing is that if we are in ARD and the family requests it, the team says..... " you must put that request in writing to the director of SPED; an ARD is not necessary " . However, when I have requested families to submit their request in writing to the director, they are told " you must do that during an ARD " . Since there are no clear guidelines in the side by side, I would do both: have an ARD and put the request in writing to the director. Note: there is no timeline to have this completed. Note #2: the district must approve it in advance. I don't think they can " cap " the costs; however, the IEE must be in the same price range as those that are commonly completed. A good and proper FBA will be completed in the child's classroom. Any district who pays for an IEE and doesn't allow classroom observations has something to hide. hope this helps! ______________________________ L.
