You might also do the COP without heat as a more gentle way of easing into the

packs...

--------- Pain FROM castor oil pack??To: Date: Friday, November 21, 2008, 8:12 PM

I just started treatment with a very leary 61 year old patient. She's

excited to start her "journey" to health and claims to be healthy as a

horse, but has many different issues going on (including the removal

of her gallbladder 4 years ago). I started her on BTG's, enzymes and

castor oil packs, as I was willing to wait on the diet changes until

after the holidays. She's been fighting me on most things, seeming

interested at first, then sending passive emails asking "is this

really necessary," etc. Once we get back on track she seems ok. Then,

this morning I got an email saying the castor oil pack made her liver

hurt. I called her to verify - "how do you know it's your liver?" She

said it was because it's under where I told her to put the pack. It's

not like an acute pain, but she's aware of it. She couldn't describe

it other than that. I told her she would feel effects from the pack,

but it shouldn't be painful and recommended she do every other day

until she got more used to it.

Has anyone else expereinced/ heard this, or is it just a line I haven't

gotten before?

Thanks guys. She's actually rubbing it on, then going to bed, so no

heat, but may too long if she's just sleeping. She claims to not have

any time during her day to do them other than right before bed (even

though I know she watches at least 2 hours of tv per night!).

Anywho...I'll see if she's willing to do even 15 minutes.
